Drafting and Design Technology AOS

Drafting and Design Technology AOS is a program that teaches the basics of drafting and design. The course includes lessons on sketching, lettering, layout technology, modeling with polylines, 3D solid modeling using solids or surfaces, rendering in different modes such as Shaded or Hidden Line Removed (HLR), 2D technical drawing such as floor plans and site plans.

The Drafting and Design Technology AOS is just one of the many degree options available to students at ITI Technical College. Read on for more details!

Drafting and Design Technology

The AOS degree prepares students for a career as a technical designer or technologist in architecture, planning engineering, construction management , surveying and other fields related to design technology.Drafting In addition to coursework specific to drafting and design technology, there are required courses from the  School of Architecture and Planning. Students also have the option to take courses in related fields, including economics, political science, history, humanities , psychology etc.

Drafting is an important technique that helps designers communicate their ideas more effectively by creating drawings for buildings/products/machines using drafting machines or pencils with rulers & T-squares. These are essential tools used when drawing architectural plans necessary for building construction. Designers use these technical skills to design manufactured products such as automobiles air conditioner s water heater s etc., industrial equipment like cranes elevators paper machines and so on; prepare engineering diagrams for roads power transmission lines pipelines electrical grids computer networks cable TV distribution systems telephone poles wireless towers and other telecommunications facilities ; survey land  to prepare topographic maps and drawings for civil engineering projects.

Drafting and Design Technology Programs

Drafting and Design Technology students enjoy a variety of courses and hands-on learning opportunities. They learn about the history, concepts, tools and materials used in drafting while studying computer aided design (CAD) software. Courses cover technical drawing, advanced CAD theory & applications as well as architectural blueprints for residential buildings ranging from single family homes to high rise buildings.

Students also study electrical systems such as wiring diagrams for an office building or industrial plant; plumbing systems that include water distribution piping through multi-story buildings; heating/air conditioning units necessary throughout different types of structures including individual living spaces like condos or warehouses with several floors; mechanical drawings that explore how devices work together within a structure – all this is part of Drafting & Design Technology !
